The Word Cloud Mod represents text data in a compelling manner to depict most prominent words and their importance. Larger text means greater weight.

    Data Requirements

Every mod handles missing, corrupted and/or inconsistent data in different ways. It is advised to always review how the data is visualized.

To make the Word Cloud Mod work properly you only need one column: Words. Keep those short for the best results. Having not too many different words also helps in keeping the visualization easily scannable.

    Setting Up the Mod

To setup the word cloud, simply select the column containing the words as Words axis.

    Configuring the Mod

To spice things a up a bit, you can also color words or add a numerical column to indicate the relative font size of each word (or use an absolute value).

After setting the data, multiple options are available to alter the word cloud appearance live by choosing different angles and layouts and specifying font sizes yourself or let the mod normalizes these for you. To open the appearance options, mouse over the word cloud visualization and click the cogwheel button on the top right. Turning off normalization of font size might sometimes help to display more words.

    Using the Mod

The Word Cloud Mod is a high-performance, accurate data visualization that supports the functionalities expected from a Spotfire® visualization such as filtering and responsive marking with multiple or single words.
