  • What's New in Spotfire® 11.8

TIBCO Spotfire 11.8 brings multiple refinements to the visual data science experience; making it easier, faster, and auditable.

    Discovery

Load R or Python script file to create data function

Now, when creating data functions, you can import R or Python script files developed in external tools such as Visual Studio Code, R Studio, Jupyter, and others.

    UX improvements for data functions

Group optional data function input parameters

When configuring data function inputs, you can now group optional input parameters to show the required parameters at the top. It is now also easier to see whether an input parameter is optional when configuring the inputs.

    Data function outputs descriptions

Output parameter descriptions are now shown when configuring where to add the results of a data function.

    Improved data function error messages

Errors returned from a data function execution are now presented in a friendlier way and directly in error dialogs.

    Edit data function outputs

     editoutput(1).thumb.gif.bd61a2cc23759ea3be8a44982b85805e.gif

You can easily edit data function output settings directly from the data canvas. This new editing experience makes it easy to adapt data functions to changes in the analytics context and is also a great access point for reviewing all output parameters.

Data function outputs to/from data tables navigation

     navigation(1).thumb.gif.64ffd9ba85070c2375edcf4145c6626e.gif

Along with data function output editing, you can now quickly navigate from a data function output to the corresponding data table and the other way around within the data canvas.

    Show/hide items in visualization mods

Add rules to show or hide items in visualization mods. The Show/Hide Items page is now available in the visualization properties dialog when using the Spotfire Analyst client, and any added rules will be applied in the visualization when opening the analysis in the web client.

Open visualization mods via 'Files and data' flyout

It is now possible to add locally saved visualization mods (.mod files) to an analysis page using 'Browse local file' in the 'Files and data' flyout.

Search the library for visualization mods using Find

Searching for visualization mod files in the library can now be done via Find (Ctrl+F), by typing the expression type:mod. Search results will be listed under the category 'Add visualization from library'. You can also search for specific visualization mods via Find. The search result will be listed under 'Add visualization from library'. If it is a pinned visualization mod, the search result will be listed under 'Add visualization' as well.

    Administration

    Action logs for data functions

Spotfire action logs now log data function actions such as when adding a data function, editing a data function input or output, editing a data function script, removing a data function and pinning a data function to the f(x) flyout.

Azure Blob Storage is supported as the Spotfire library external file storage

Azure Blob Storage is supported as the Spotfire library external file storage.

The new Spotfire configuration tool command config-library-external-azure-blob-storage enables configuration of Azure Blob Storage as the Spotfire external storage.

PostgreSQL 14 is supported as the Spotfire DB

Spotfire now supports PostgreSQL version 14 (both for Windows and Linux) as the Spotfire Server database.

PostgreSQL version 14 is the latest stable version. PostgreSQL version 14 is the latest version supported by the major cloud service providers.
